With the 2008 Summer Olympics just around the corner, we are encouraged to celebrate not just the event but the spirit behind it. Irrespective of our differences in lifestyle, ethnicity and race, the Olympics belongs not only to athletes, but to everyone. Few other events celebrate so dramatically the desire of human beings to break boundaries and reach new horizons.

Inspired by the Olympic spirit, we are striving for our own breakthroughs by uniting sports and design. ¡§Diversity in Action by the Hong Kong New Design Force¡¨ has invited 16 fashion designers and 20 creative entities to translate the concepts of speed, vitality and action into their creations. The show features not only fashion design, but also a wide range of artistic exhibits in the form of graphics, animation and sculpture.

Through this parade, representing an enthusiastic salute to the Beijing Games, Hong Kong Fashion Week draws some of our most talented designers together, resulting in a burst of sustained and creative synergy. It is gratifying to know that our local fashion design and creative industries are alive with vitality and sparkling with diversity. Together, these industries form an irresistible force, moving us to take action and celebrate together.
