Held for the fourth consecutive year, the Award is a show-cum-contest that aims to encourage Hong Kong clothing enterprises to start their own collections and brands by working more closely with creative talents. With better and more marketable designs, Hong Kong clothing enterprises are actually strengthening their value-added service and raising their overall competitiveness.
For this year's Award, all entrants are grouped into two categories: "Day-wear" and "Occasional Wear". After different phases of screening, the panel of judges, from the Hong Kong fashion industry, has shortlisted 11 collections, each represents a collaboration of creative ingenuity and market sensitivity. The panel was chaired by TDC Garment Advisory Committee Chairman Andrew Leung.
On the day of the Award, the third day of Hong Kong Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2005, these collections were paraded before an audience including members of the judging panel to compete for six prizes: "Overall Winner Award", "Award for Marketability : Occasional Wear", "Award for Marketability : Day-wear", "Award for Creativity : Occasional Wear", "Award for Creativity : Day-wear" and "Award for Best Application of Technology".
This year's major price, the "Overall Winner Award" and "Award for Creativity: Day-wear" went to "Tangram", a collection representing a collaboration between Chic-Square Co. and Yeung Shiu-cheung.
Other winning collections were "London's Burning" (Award for Best Application of Technology" and "Award for Creativity: Occasional Wear", "City Bohemian" (Award for Marketability: Day-wear) and "Chinese Rhapsody" (Award for Marketability: Occasional Wear).
